Channel Routing Net Savings
Example Calculation of Net Savings
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pricing for a 8.5 by 14 inch (119 sq inches) size board, plus laser drill (10%).
All prices in USD.

10 Layers (original cost) --> $32.88 --> laser drill add 10 % = $36.17
12 Layers (original cost) --> $43.80 --> laser drill add 10 % = $48.18
14 Layers (original cost) --> $57.00 --> laser drill add 10 % = $62.70

Let's assume that the 8.4 x 14 inch board, prior to Channel Routing, had a 14
layer stack-up and a 1247 pin BGA.

Original Board Cost - (Royalty + New Board Cost (w / HDI) ) = Net Savings

For a two layer reduction (14 to 12 layers)
$57.00 - ((119 x $0.02) + $48.18) = $57.00 - 50.56 = $6.44 USD

For a four layer reduction (14 to 10 layers)
$57.00 - ((119 x $0.02) + $36.17) = $57.00 - 38.55 = $18.45 USD

NOTE: On boards that have higher layers counts than the two previous examples, the
              net savings would be larger, because the cost increase for each additional
              pair, is non-linear.
